What Do You Give As a Gift to Your Partner on The First Anniversary?

Congratulations! Your first anniversary is approaching! Yahoo!

Now, gift ideas... where to start? What if your partner is the type that "doesn't need anything", someone that's hard to buy for anyway--regardless of it being a first anniversary? What if he/she isn't very sentimental, but you still want to acknowledge with something special? After a year together, you've got a lot to celebrate. There are some neat ideas for celebrating what's special to the two of you.

The first anniversary is traditionally known as the "paper" anniversary. For something unique, why not make a card? Something with a quote or a poem or a personal note can say what you want. You can add another gift to it, or an experience (i.e. a trip, dinner out, etc.), or leave it as it is.
A few other "paper" wedding gift ideas:

1. Tickets to a game or event

2. A book

3. Movie tickets

4. Gift certificates

5. A wedding memory or first year scrap book

6. An invitation to do something

7. Newspaper clipping from the day you got married

8. A personal letter

Another idea for the "first anniversary" is a mini-honeymoon or vacation. If you have time and money, you can return to your destination wedding location. Being back in the same place with the same smells, sounds and sights can be really fun to see how it feels with a 1-year-together perspective. If you can't afford to do that, you can take a weekend off and play with one another. Play music from your wedding, serve the drinks and food you had at your wedding and hang out together. You could make something together. Then go out for a movie--or stay in and share an intimate night. Light some candles. Buy a sexy piece of new lingerie and surprise your mate when he gets home... or wrap yourself up with paper and a bow. Then you've got the "paper anniversary" and a crazy fun experience to share, all in one.

You can also dress up and go out. Send your partner an invitation (mail it or slip it into their things) a few days before for a night out to a fancy place--or a night dressed up and staying in. Dress up for fun, get decked out and go somewhere fancy or somewhere really casual. Go to McDonald's in a cocktail dress and a tux, for instance. Then off to the park to sit by the pond in the moonlight. Something random and fun, shared between the two of you, can start a tradition for anniversaries.

Whatever you choose to do, the first anniversary is significant and special. You made it and you're still around for more--that's a great step together as a couple. Taking time for a little more creativity can show your partner you're as happy and excited as you were on your wedding day.
